About

Eileen is a New Jersey native who spent her childhood summer afternoons daydreaming of a life as Laura Ingalls Wilder. Wading through waist-high grassland to make it to the old oak tree where the land meets the bluest of skies.

Meteorology has always been her first love – rooted in memories of sitting on the porch with her mother watching virile Nor’easters roll in. She eventually turned her passion into a career when she worked for ABC’s Good Morning America, traveling more than a dozen hurricanes. Her job forecasting weather took her to Lansing, Michigan, then south to forecast in Fort Myers, Florida.

But all the while her childhood self was subconsciously active, pulling her unknowingly westward.

Eventually, Eileen found herself predicting weather in Sacramento, California.  During her now 17 year tenure at KCRA, she found plenty of time to explore the rich bounty of the valley and foothills.  The wealth and abundance of countless varieties of produce, meat, dairy and wine awakened a dormant passion for all things culinary that Eileen hardly knew even existed within her.

Fate played a decisive role in her life.  While shopping at an independent grocery store renowned for its butcher she quite literally bumped into her future husband: a winemaker delivering holiday gifts of wine to his key accounts.  After a few dinners of stealing food from each other’s plates, the two knew they were made for each other.  They married, and moved to his home in Placerville, California. Now living in the rolling vineyards, not quite grassland, but close enough, she continues to cultivates her love for nutrition.

After seeing her parents’ health declined from chronic disease and her mom passed she was left asking why and how? She enrolled in the Nutritional Therapy Association to be certified as an NTP,  focusing on a bio-individual approach in the importance of nutrient-dense food, lifestyle choices, culinary wellness, and how social and personal components influence health.
